Stoked on Grateful for
This week it’s all about being thankful! Thanksgiving may be a commercialized holiday like the rest of ‘em but its message of thankfulness and giving is one that should be observed year round.
I’ve just left Brazil and arrived back in the United States with a sigh of pleasure. Despite government troubles, political stirrings up and lobbyists that are only in it for the green, we really do have it good here in the US of A. Clean, drinkable water, fresh foods available to most, an economy that enables even the most technically poverty stricken to still have a television in their home and an infrastructure that gets rid of our trash without us even having to contemplate where it goes. We take our modern luxuries for granted, most definitely. It’s important to remember that our strong middle class of SUV drivers is not the world norm and without changing our developmental practices, the earth simply cannot support the many other developing countries that seek this same lifestyle. Great article here. Be thankful for what you have, it’s a lot more than most!
On to the meat. I’m thankful for a lot of things!
Most of all:
My family and three brothers: The most fun I have is with these three chumps. The sweetest boys I know with huge senses of humor, huge hearts and each with their own unique zest for life.
My boyfriend: Support and love. I hope you all find this!
My friends: Sharing is caring, life is better with meaningful people to share it with.
Good food: Nourishes my body. Chocolate is divine. Organic is orgasmic. ;)
Kiteboarding: Exercise, yes. Freedom, yes. Meditation, yes. Adventure, yes. Fun, ahhhhh!!!!!
Fundraising: One of my passions. Saving the world one step at a time.
Home: I am ever grateful.
Our planet!: So much beauty and majesty. Take a minute to be awed.
Sunsets: More awe-inspiring greatness.
My health: I always try to be thankful for this, because like most things in life, it’s not a permanent state.
Bikinis and the many people that support me: Passion. Thank you!
Always be thankful for what you have! An easy way to incorporate thankfulness into your every day life is to keep a gratefulness journal. At the end of each day, write 3 things that you are grateful for. Remind yourself what you have and why it’s awesome. Positive thinking goes a long way.

For about a month now I’ve been kiteboarding with a custom molded, one-of-a-kind harness from Engine. These harnesses are built by hand and feature custom artwork of yours or the artists’ (Coleman Buckley) choosing. Besides looking stunning, they work. In today’s fast-paced world of marketing and consumerism, products claim to do a lot of things. It’s delightful to find one that actually fulfills that promise.
Engine claims to be “space armor for ninjas” and after wearing mine, I now know why they created that tagline. The harness really gives off the impression that you are wearing nothing or at least not much. It’s lightweight, padded with neoprene and super comfortable AND custom molded to your back via a hard plastic that is baked in the oven and then cooled on your lower back to imprint the shape. It’s also small, as in TINY. Compared to the many other kite harnesses out there, the height is minimal, allowing for freedom of moving while providing plenty of support.
After a month of riding (daily sessions!) it’s held up perfectly well. The only negatives that I’ve found so far- no handle pass rope for your leash. I had to attach one of my own. Personal preference. And the one buckle that holds the strap down that threads through my spreader bar is very hard to undo. Not too bad for a piece of art with so many positives.
Have a new grab you want to get but your bulky harness is making it difficult? Ride engine. Want a harness that you barely notice while riding? Ride engine. Want some sweet graphics of your choosing? Ride engine. Want a custom harness that’s molded to the contours of your back? Ride engine. Want to be a kite rock star? Ride engine.
